Sea and summer
Brought us good weather
Love took its color from you
The world was alive with us.
I was the garden the sad summer long
You were a jasmine at the gate
Your scent passed from you to me, me to you
Wafted back and forth between us
Through the open gate.
At every summer’s end love goes
And the wind calls up the cold
Your jasmine scent
Protects the gardens the long winter through.
